NASAMSAM ng mga operatiba ng Bureau of Customs – Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service ang P1.2 bilyong halaga ng peke at ipinagbabawal na mga produkto matapos salakayin ang ilang bodega sa Malabon City.

Kasama sa nadiskubreng ipinagbabawal na mga produkto ang disposable vapes na wala umanong tax stamps at hindi awtorisadong ibenta.

Ayon sa ulat na ipinarating sa tanggapan ni BOC Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio, sinalakay ng mga tauhan ng Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service-Manila International Container Port (CIIS-MICP) ang mga bodega sa Malabon sa bisa ng Letters of Authority na inisyu at dito natuklasan ang ilegal na mga produkto.

“During the inspection, a joint enforcement team comprising CIIS-MICP, the Enforcement and Security Service-MICP, and the Philippine Coast Guard-Task Force Aduana discovered a substantial volume of counterfeit goods, disposable vapes without Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) tax stamps and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Import Commodity Clearance stickers, and various unregulated merchandise stored within the premises of the subject warehouses,” ayon sa report.

Upang matiyak na mananatiling ligtas ang nakumpiskang mga produkto, sinelyuhan at ikinandado ito ng mga awtoridad para sa isasagawang imbentaryo.

Samantala, mag-iisyu naman ng Warrant of Seizure and Detention ang BOC para sa nakumpiskang mga produkto dahil sa paglabag sa Customs Modernization and Tariff Act kaugnay ng Republic Act No. 8293, na kilala rin bilang Intellectual Property Code of the Philippines.

Ayon kay Rubio, mahigpit nilang ipinatupad ang direktiba ni President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. na stricter enforcement measures, tuloy-tuloy na pagtugis at pagsugpo sa illegal distribution ng peke, counterfeit at unregistered imported products. (JESSE KABEL RUIZ)
